Welcome to the University of Sheffield Chinese Society’s new website. We as a society aim to bring together students from diverse backgrounds who share a common interest in Chinese culture *. And the committee of 2010-2011 with the help of our members will strive to do this by holding a variety of fun and social events, throughout this academic year.

The Sheffield Chinese Society was first created in 1991 and since then the society has grown from strength to strength. The Chinese Society formally abbreviated to ChiSoc is now into it’s 19th year and with a new committee elected, ChiSoc plans to be bigger and better.

ChiSoc is a society open to everyone, spanning from home to international students. Regardless of cultural background, everyone is welcome!

This year, ChiSoc will be offering a range of drinking and non-drinking events to suit all different tastes. We will be launching new events, such as small trips around the UK and new sport activities. ChiSoc will also soon be proud to present our new tandem socials, under a new name called ‘Chinglish’, which aims to help both English and Chinese speakers.

With our new membership card, members will also benefit from more sponsorship deals this year. Deals which not only include food discounts but also for entertainment value.
